Like all professional women trying to prove they’re “one of the boys,” the Honey Badgers* had to choose a woman to single out as the “wrong kind of woman.” Just the right sort of woman to point to and exclaim, “I’m nothing like her;” just the right cackling stage-villain they can project all their own insecurities onto.
They chose Anita Sarkeesian. A feminist known for creating a few YouTube videos that offer critique of gender in video games.
I, the Evil Feminazi from Space, have noticed something…odd. The supposedly vitriolic, hateful ranting that Anita spouted against video games, wasn’t actually all that hateful or vitriolic.
Compare Anita’s dry, unemotional critique to the rantings of Angry Joe, the lewd commentary of Yahtzee Crowshaw, or the gender critique of Errant Signal and it becomes clear the Honey Badgers criticism of Anita doesn’t have a leg to stand on.
So I have to ask…are the Honey Badgers scapegoating Anita Sarkeesian in order to make themselves look better to the misogynist folks over at A Voice for Men? I mean, come on, is Anita really the most prominent gaming critic and/or feminist the Honey Badgers could discuss?

I couldn’t make myself listen to much of that show but one bit of hypocrisy jumped out at me. They scoffed at Anita for blaming 4chan. Meanwhile, I’ve seen people from AVfM blaming it ALL on 4chan! Because AFfM would never dream of doing such a thing. *cough*
I watched the the three videos on the damsel in distress trope. Anita is very matter-of-fact and mostly unemotional, as you said. I’m not a gamer but I found it quite interesting and she obviously did a lot of work and research creating them.
I really don’t understand why the manosphere is so outraged. I mean, they complain bitterly about women being useless and dependent on men yet when Anita calls out that very dynamic in games, it’s misandry?

I’ve been thinking about this, because it really doesn’t make all that much sense. I think it’s just classic misogyny combined with sexism, though. They hate women who are unwilling to treat them as the privileged Big Men they think they are. So a wife who does all the wifely things is just fine…a wife who gets a divorce, well that’s a drain on a man’s resources.

Accept…Anita has given know way to help deal with these ‘important fymanest issues’ she claims are in games, she give no evidence to back anything she says up, she scammed people out of money, and she lied about being a gamer, so…oh wait, case point, Anita is a perfect 3rd wave feminist.

I just have to ask…have you even watched her videos? Claiming she “gives no evidence to back anything she says up,” is just straight up wrong. She does back up what she says. In her videos she talks about a trope and then gives example after example of how that trope is used in games.
I find it interesting that you make all these claims about Anita without backing them up, though. Interesting, but not surprising.
